Info.
When we look at the doors around us, we can observe that they have been stripped down to the primitive action of opening and closing. Occasionally, some of them even complete this task on their own, without interaction from us. Rupert designed a door that forces its user to slow down this mundane part of their day and turn it into a thoughtful, interactive process.
The door is made from multiple aluminum extrusions and connected by sunshade textile. This allows it to be pushed and pulled into multiple shapes, giving the door a fluid form. The aluminum extrusions provide both lightweight strength and a visual structure to match the door’s fluid form, while the sunshade textile provides a semi-transparent barrier that retains its architectural element in the space.
